When fire or smoke is detected
- Pull fire alarm and call 2-5111.
- Shut doors, close windows and turn off lights if possible.
- Evacuate to designated “safe area.” Assume all alarms – fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide – are real.
- Building and department wardens need to ensure that everyone has evacuated the building.
- Follow appropriate/safe fire drill routes. Take alternative routes if necessary.
- Do not re-enter buildings until declared safe by emergency personnel.
