Asian Pacific American Medical Association

The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) chapter at Rush is a branch of the regional and national organization of medical, pre-medical, and other health professional students committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. APAMSA provides an important venue for health professional students to meet, exchange experiences, and develop personally and professionally through leadership and service. APAMSA serves as a forum for student leaders to engage these health issues and develop initiatives and projects addressing those needs. Throughout the year APAMSA hosts several community service events in predominantly AANHPI communities as well as social and educational events on- and off-campus in collaboration with other local student chapter organizations. The local, regional, and national activities of APAMSA aim to promote the health of the AANHPI community and help healthcare workers understand how to care for AANHPI patients in a culturally sensitive manner.
