Mission
As one of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine's LMIGs, our mission is to engage Rush University students with the six pillars of lifestyle medicine - nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, substance use reduction, and social connection - while upholding a commitment to the surrounding communities Rush serves.
We recognize that many of these communities face a growing burden of chronic disease, often driven by limited access to nutritious food, safe spaces for physical activity, and other foundations for health and longevity. As future healthcare providers, we believe it is essential to understand these challenges when working to improve the long-term health of our patients.
In support of this mission, our goals include increasing access to healthy food and empowering the Rush University and local community with practical lifestyle tools to prevent disease. Members will have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers, get involved in community outreach, and stay connected through newsletters featuring upcoming events, recipes, and evidence-based resources.
