The Department of Family Medicine is committed to patient care, education and research. Our family medicine physicians have been nationally recognized, and many are involved in innovative research and demonstration projects.
Since our department was established in 1976, it has provided outstanding, patient-centered, comprehensive care to patients of all ages and at all stages of health. Today, the department includes five RUSH-owned practices with several other affiliated physicians strategically located across the Chicago area.
Our physicians are trained to view each patient within the context of their family and community. This, together with our emphasis on teamwork, compassion and care coordination, makes us uniquely suited to advocate for our patients and to help them navigate the complex health delivery system.
The Department of Family Medicine has paved the way for ambulatory education at RUSH. Our educational contributions span the four years of medical school and include the family medicine component of the primary care clerkship, sponsored elective courses and the highly acclaimed Family Medicine Leadership Program.
Through these and other Medical Center-sponsored activities, our faculty members are actively engaged throughout the medical college.
