DACA Applicants

The mission of Rush is to improve the health of the individuals and diverse communities we serve through the integration of outstanding patient care, education, research and community partnerships. We recognize the need for a diverse workforce to achieve this goal and stand by the principle that equal opportunity and diversity in employment, education and the delivery of health care are essential to successfully fulfill our mission.

Rush University supports Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), an executive action signed by former President Barack Obama. We believe DACA recipients exemplify a group of unique students who will contribute to the educational goals of our own learning environment and to the medical profession as a whole.

Individuals who are current DACA recipients are eligible and encouraged to apply to Rush Medical College. In Illinois, DACA recipients are ineligible for federal and state financial aid for their education; however, DACA recipients will receive equal consideration for our institutional scholarships. While we are working on developing new funding opportunities, the cost of attendance is currently the responsibility of the student.

Please contact Richard Abrams, MD, ombudsman, with any questions or concerns regarding DACA.
