Physician Wellness

The Rush department of Anesthesiology recognizes that Physician Wellness is a critical issue, and we are actively striving to address this issue on multiple fronts, including engaging with departmental management and operations.  Our philosophy and approach are described in our mission statement:

Mission Statement

The Department of Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center strives to cultivate a culture of caring, health and well-being by providing resources to help staff thrive clinically, personally, and professionally, enabling them to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.  We are committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment that supports optimal clinician wellness and professional satisfaction by ensuring the organization’s leadership, goals, structures and systems facilitate a healthy professional work-life, allowing our clinicians to provide the highest quality, most compassionate medical care. We believe professional satisfaction of physicians and other caregivers is inextricably linked to quality, safety as well as patient satisfaction and that when clinicians are contented and engaged in their work, both patients and caregivers’ benefit.

We have designed this webpages as a resource targeted at clinitions, but can be helpful for everyone.
