It is a true honor to lead the Department of Anesthesiology at RUSH University, one of the nation's most innovative and forward-thinking departments. Having started my journey here as a resident in 1995, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue our work and to help shape the future of anesthesiology alongside a remarkable team of Faculty, Residents, CRNAs, Research and Administrative staff.
Located in the heart of the Illinois Medical District, our department is a hub for cutting-edge education, research, and patient care. We offer a dynamic training program in a state-of-the-art clinical setting led by world-class Faculty who prioritize excellence in patient outcomes and experience through a collaborative Care Team model.
The field of anesthesiology is rapidly evolving, and our department is proud to play a leading role in this evolution. From advancing surgical practice to transforming pain management, our research and clinical care continue to have a profound impact both locally and nationally. We are one of the few anesthesiology departments in the country with federally funded research, and our faculty members are deeply engaged in shaping the future of the field, contributing to medical societies at every level.
We are also at the forefront of tackling the opioid epidemic, pioneering innovative pain management strategies that reduce opioid dependency and promote evidence-based alternatives. This work aligns with our broader commitment to improving patient outcomes and contributing to the public health efforts to combat the opioid crisis.
Rush’s Anesthesiology Residency program is recognized nationally for its comprehensive training across all subspecialties, including clinical anesthesia, critical care, and pain management.
