About General Internal Medicine

The Division of General Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center is dedicated to excellence in comprehensive, equitable, person-centered primary care.  Our faculty and advanced practice providers deliver state-of-the-art, evidenced-based care to communities across the Chicagoland area. 

We take a holistic approach to patient care, meeting patients where they are with traditional clinic-based care as well as home-based and virtual care options.  We are experts in the diagnosis of both rare and common conditions, and we partner with patients on every aspect of health, from preventive care to managing conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.  Faculty have additional board certifications in Sports Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, Obesity Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Clinical Informatics. We strive to help our patients and families achieve superior outcomes and excellent quality of life. 

The Division's dedication extends beyond the clinic walls.  We are a mainstay of medical education at RUSH, training the next generation of physicians to excel in person-centered primary and specialty care.  Our division has expertise in medical education at all levels as well as expertise in clinical quality, clinical trials, advocacy, public health, community health, diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The Division of General Internal Medicine is proud to be a leader in Northern Illinois and on the national stage, making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, learners, and communities every day.
