The social worker provides a brief intervention using motivational interviewing.

Guided by the risk-stratified score, the social worker provides a brief intervention using motivational interviewing, and the SUIT consult team will round on identified high-risk patients to assess whether to initiate medication and discuss with the patient linkage to outpatient services upon discharge. 

If ready, patients can begin medication (Buprenorphine) and, upon discharge, receive individual and group psychotherapy, case management, continued medication treatment at Rush Outpatient Addiction Medicine Clinic.

Rush Addiction Medicine Clinic

Rush Addiction Medicine Clinic provides treatment services to Rush patients struggling with addiction and substance use concerns. The clinic is a multidisciplinary team with a harm reduction approach to treatment and a goal of working 
together with our patients.

Services include:

  • Psychiatric support
  • Individual therapy with licensed clinical social worker
  • Medication management including Suboxone/BUP waivers
  • Case management services and referrals
