Objectives of the Great Lakes Node
The goal of the GLN is to improve access to care for the many people whose substance use/substance use disorder (SU/SUDs) are unrecognized, overlooked or untreated.
GLN supports innovative education and training activities to develop a new cadre of clinician-researchers and provide an infrastructure for trial participation and intervention with individuals who are often underserved and/or understudied.
GLN provides leadership and experience in on-going research across the general population spectrum and brings unique expertise with youth/adolescent populations and senior/aging populations.
The GLN research agenda will focus on identifying effective practices for care of patients with SU/SUDs and designing and testing sustainable ways to integrate those practices into mainstream medical care.
