National Student Speech Language Hearing Association

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, NSSLHA, is the national organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication.  NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Mission

  • To encourage professional interst among graduate students in the study of speech and language pathology and to assist students in the transition to becoming professionals
  • To provide a vehicle for student representation in matters of professional concern
  • To encourage support and positive rapport among students
  • To extend services to members of the surrounding community

Events

The Rush Chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) sponsors events throughout the year.

Fundraisers

Past fundraisers included Zumba fitness classes with the proceeds going to “NSSLHA Loves,” an annual community service activity that supports national organizations assisting people living with communication disorders.

Socials

Socials are held each quarter.  In the past, activities have included ice skating at Millennium Park and attending free concerts throughout the summer.

Appreciation

Members are expected to take time out of their busy schedules to do a little baking and to show a lot of appreciation for the faculty and staff.
