Hobbies - Dancing (Tap, Bollywood, Hip Hop), attending all my friend's weddings, and walking my dogs while eating a bagel and sipping my coffee
Program Favorites - Having advocacy and family planning training throughout the curriculum, the view from the hospital rooftop, and the ability to be an academic hospital that's still community facing
Chicago Favorites - The walkability (and the public transit!), beach days by the lake, summertime festivals, and all the delicious eats

Hobbies - Running, reading, watching bad Netflix movies, trying to learn to knit anything other than a scarf
Program Favorites - The people are so incredible and welcoming, and so dedicated to teaching. I wanted a program that felt close knit and collaborative while pushing each other to succeed, and I found exactly that in Rush’s OBGYN department. Also, the strong focus on reproductive justice and working with patients from all backgrounds and levels of health literacy.
Chicago Favorites - The lakefront trail, the hundreds of street festivals, Will’s chicken Caeser salad wrap, Cubs games at Wrigley Field, the Museum of Science and Industry

Hobbies - Walking my dog, cooking new things, HIIT classes, and traveling
Program Favorites - Supportive learning environment. Ability to create our own block and call schedules. Family planning training and surgical exposure early on. 
Chicago Favorites- Chicago is the best city there is! I have been here my whole life and could not imagine myself anywhere else. Amazing views, summer festivals, diverse neighborhoods and seasons. 

 

Maddy Burds, MD

Hobbies – Running, reading, yoga, long walks, and getting sweet treats!
Program Favorites – The people! The program is so invested in each one of us and is constantly finding new ways to help us grow. My co-residents and attendings are people I look up to and want to learn from!
Chicago Favorites – The lake, Annette’s, Ranalli’s patio, and being close to my family and friends!

Program Favorites - The L&D workroom is not only great for its large panoramic windows, but it also is a collaborative space between attendings, residents, and nursing where it feels we all work together as a team.  I also appreciate the racial heterogeneity of both the patient/staff populations, as well as the balance between constructive feedback with autonomy. I feel very welcomed! 🙂

Hobbies: Boxing and other workout classes, Exploring Coffee Shops, Chicago Lakefront Walks 
Program favorites: As a student at Rush, I knew I wanted to stay because the program environment was super supportive and kind for learners and I knew this program would help support my growth as an advocate physician!
Chicago Favorites: I love food and Chicago has an amazing food scene! I love exploring the different cultural enclaves throughout different Chicago neighborhoods and learning about different cultures and trying new foods! I also love the proximity to the lake and enjoy my lakefront walks!
