Our one-year program provides experience in complex pathology, advanced imaging technologies and multidisciplinary clinical care within a collaborative academic environment.

The Body Imaging Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center is a one-year, non-ACGME-accredited fellowship. The program offers 4 fellowship positions annually.

Rush University Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic medical center known for excellence in patient care, education, and research. As a major tertiary and quaternary referral center in the Chicago region, Rush provides fellows with exposure to complex pathology, advanced imaging technologies, and multidisciplinary clinical care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties. The institution supports high-volume clinical practice, cutting-edge oncologic care, transplant services, and advanced minimally invasive procedures within a collaborative academic environment dedicated to innovation and education.


Program Highlights

  • High-volume clinical practice with diverse and complex case mix

Clinical Training

Fellows receive comprehensive clinical exposure in all major areas of body imaging, including CT, body MRI, ultrasound. Training emphasizes accurate interpretation, clinical consultation, protocol optimization, and multidisciplinary collaboration across a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient imaging.

The fellows are exposed to a wide range of pathology, including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, oncologic, and transplant imaging. Fellows are also trained in multiparametric prostate MRI with PI-RADS interpretation, liver with LI-RADS interpretation, transplant imaging, CT Colonography, and oncologic staging and surveillance imaging.

Fellows rotate across multiple clinical services and imaging modalities with flexibility for elective experiences tailored to individual career interests. Clinical training is primarily at Rush University Medical Center and affiliated clinical sites.
 

Multidisciplinary Conferences 

Fellows actively participate in multidisciplinary conferences and tumor boards as part of daily clinical practice. Conferences include:

  • GI/hepatobiliary tumor board
  • GU oncology conference
  • Gynecologic oncology conference
  • Additional multidisciplinary oncology and surgical conferences across subspecialty services
     

Didactics, Research and Teaching

Fellows participate in a comprehensive educational curriculum that includes interesting case conferences, journal club, multidisciplinary conferences, and a dedicated lecture series led by body imaging faculty.

Research and scholarly activity are encouraged and supported throughout the fellowship year. Fellows are expected to complete a scholarly project suitable for presentation or publication.

Fellows also contribute to the education of radiology residents and medical students through daily clinical teaching, case review, and formal didactic activities.
 

Application Information

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed a diagnostic radiology residency program. 

International applicants must have completed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 examinations and possess a valid ECFMG certificate at the start of the fellowship year.

Applicants must also be eligible for temporary or permanent medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
