Curriculum

Overview

The academic year is divided into twenty-six two-week blocks (an X+Y+Z system). Primary sites include Rush University Medical Center and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Residents provide longitudinal ambulatory care at the Rush Adult and Pediatric Primary Care clinic. Tailored to resident interest, rotations may also take place at various nonprimary locations.

The Rush Med-Peds curriculum is carefully designed to meet the national Med-Peds guidelines while striking a balance between experiences in primary and tertiary care and between inpatient and outpatient settings. Flexibility is maintained to allow residents to pursue special interests.

Rotations

Residents rotate between Internal Medicine and Pediatrics every three months.

  • Intern year is 12 calendar months
  • The academic year is twenty-six, two-week rotations.
  • Research Blocks and away rotations are also available to those that are interested.
