Dr. Sadia Haider, MD, MPH, is a professor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University and is the Chair of the Department of OBGYN. Dr. Haider is an advocate for reproductive rights and works to improve reproductive health and rights on both the domestic and global scale.

Laura Laursen (she/her) is an associate professor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University. She completed her residency in 2016 at UIC and fellowship in 2018 at University of Chicago where she also received her Masters of Science. Dr. Laursen joined the faculty at Rush in 2018 and was essential in establishing the CARLA program. She is focused on ensuring access to abortion for all patients in the Midwest and caring for patients with complex medical conditions who need reproductive healthcare.

Dr. Sloane York, MD, MPH, is an associate professor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University. She completed her residency in 2011 and fellowship in 2013 at Northwestern University where she also received a Masters in Public Health. Dr. York joined the faculty at Rush in 2013 where she established family planning services and helped develop the Division of Complex Family Planning. Since 2018, she has been the OBGYN Residency Program Director at Rush. She is also the Associate Program Director for the Complex Family Planning Fellowship. Her research includes work in medical education (specifically abortion simulation, access to abortion training for OBGYN residents, and education for OBGYN residents), 2nd trimester labor induction, and disparities in access to abortion and contraception.

Rachel Zigler, MD, MSCI is an associate professor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University. She completed her residency in 2016 and fellowship in 2018 at Washington University in St. Louis where she also received a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation. Dr. Zigler joined the faculty at Rush in 2025. She previously worked as faculty at an institution in the Southeast where she led Family Planning services, established a Family Planning rotation for residents, and was awarded the Ryan Program in Family Planning designation. She is passionate about medical education and giving residents/fellows the experience to provide safe and skilled reproductive healthcare to their patients.

Dr. Heather Bouma-Johnston is a Clinical Instructor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University. She completed her residency in 2024 at UIC. She is passionate about later abortion care and advancing reproductive access through healthcare policy research. Her research focuses on Medicaid sterilization policies and contraception provision post-Dobbs.

Dr. Kate Crofton is a Clinical Instructor of OBGYN in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Rush University. She completed her residency in 2025 at Albany Medical College. Her research interests include medical education, family planning access, and pain management in gynecology. She especially enjoys teaching all future doctors about abortion and contraception.
