Meet the residents of the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Residency Program.

Lauren Cordes, DO, PGY3

Lauren Cordes, DO, is from Des Moines, Iowa where she completed her bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She completed her medical degree and Masters of Anatomy at Des Moines University. Her interests in medicine include OB care, reproductive health, and mental health. She is an avid music lover and in her free time can be found at her local record shop, attending a concert, or listening to music at home with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys cooking, reading, exploring museums, and streaming the newest k-dramas.

Monisha Gudavalli, MD, PGY3

Monisha Gudavalli, MD, was born and primarily raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. She also briefly lived in Plano, TX and Cedar Rapids, IA during her childhood. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Physiology with a minor in Spanish at the University of Iowa and completed her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Her medical interests include a mix of academic family medicine, lifestyle medicine, adolescent medicine, and inpatient medicine. Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling, and watching football, baseball, and hockey.

Tayvin Viratyosin, MD, PGY3

Tayvin Viratyosin, MD, is originally from Minnesota. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. In his free time, Dr. Viratyosin enjoys reading, walking, and spending time with family and friends.

Elizabeth Yucknut, MD, MS, PGY3

Elizabeth Yucknut, MD, MS, was born in Danbury, Connecticut. She moved to Deerfield, Illinois when she was a teenager, and her family still lives in the north suburbs of Chicago. She attended Washington University in St. Louis for undergraduate studies, where she majored in Anthropology and Biology and played on the women’s basketball team. Afterwards, she received a Master’s degree in Applied Health Behavior Research at Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University. She is excited to be back in the greater Chicagoland area. Her interests within family medicine include academic and lifestyle medicine. In her free time, you can find her at a CrossFit gym or spending time with her family, especially her two young nephews.

Kumail Hussain, MD, MS.

Kumail Hussain, MD, MS, PGY2

Kumail Hussain, MD, MS, was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. He completed his bachelor's and medical degrees in Illinois.  He and his family have spent a lot of time in the RUSH system as patients, and he's incredibly grateful to return as a family medicine physician. He is the first doctor in his family and never gets tired of the endless medical questions at family gatherings. He enjoys going to the gym, watching Marvel movies, and reading.  He has an interest in behavioral science and hopes to practice in the area after his training!

Natalie Larson, DO.

Natalie Larson, DO, PGY2

Natalie Larson, DO, grew up in Minnesota.  She then attended Smith College in Northampton, MA for her undergraduate studies where she majored in neuroscience and psychology.  She then attended Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) for medical school.  Her interests in family medicine include women's health, mental health, and obesity medicine.  In her free time, she enjoys cooking or baking, crafting, singing, reading, walking her dog, attending a hockey or soccer game, and spending time with loved ones.

Henry Lee, DO.

Henry Lee, DO, PGY2

Henry Lee, DO, is from the southwest suburbs of Chicago.  He received his bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and attended medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  His medical interests include addiction medicine and palliative care.  In his free time, he can be found watching the latest Star Trek shows and catching up with friends and family.  

Amy Wang, MD.

Amy Wang, MD, PGY2

Amy Wang, MD, grew up on the east coast, specifically on Long Island, NY.  From college onwards she has been in the Midwest, receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, and her medical degree from RUSH Medical College.  In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, listening to music, playing board games, growing her plant collection, watching Twitch streams and spending time with family and friends.

Samiha Ahmed, DO, PGY1

Samiha was born in Ohio and grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago. She completed her bachelor's at Benedictine University and completed her medical degree at Midwestern University. Her interests include obstetrics, inpatient, and behavioral medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, crocheting, and reading.

Elizabeth Boyman, DO, PGY1

Dr. Elizabeth Boyman is originally from San Antonio, TX. She moved to New York City where she attended the Manhattan School of Music and pursued a career in opera. After singing both within the US and abroad, she attended the City College of New York to pursue her pre-medical studies. She then received her medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her medical interests are broad and include education, women’s health, health equity and advocacy, and in-office procedures. Outside of work, she can often be found at the gym, attending CSO concerts with her husband, or exploring parks and museums with their son.

Jessica Jurak, DO, PGY1

Jessica Jurak, DO, is from Morris, IL, which is only about 30 miles south of Aurora! She went to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in physics with a specialization in biomedical physics. She also minored in Spanish, mathematics, and chemistry. She continued her education at the University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. Jessica has a strong passion for osteopathy and is interested in continuing to study and provide osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). In addition, her interests in family medicine include chronic pain, sports medicine, and mental health. In her free time, Jessica enjoys baking, playing with her dogs, and spending time with friends and family.

Shivendra Singh, MD, PGY1

Shivendra Singh, MD, MS was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and its nearby suburbs. He completed his dual undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He then earned his medical and graduate degrees in Indianapolis, graduating from the Indiana University School of Medicine. His clinical interests include pain medicine, addressing health disparities, and advancing evidence-based care through research and procedural medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing and watching tennis, exploring new restaurants and cafés, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
