Application Details and Requirements
The Rush Neurology Residency Program is a categorical program that accepts nine PGY-1 residents each year. We will be accepting applications for the 2027 season via the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®) starting in September 2026. We will be participating in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) 2027 Main Residency Match. Our program code is 1147180C0. All applicants must submit an application in ERAS and complete the NRMP registration process.
Complete application submission by September 23, 2026 is strongly advised. Invitations to interview will be sent in early October. Selected candidates will receive instructions to schedule an interview using Thalamus. Interviews are conducted from the end of October to mid January.
Your completed application in ERAS must include the following:
- ERAS application
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation
- Minimum of three letters of recommendation (additional letters will be accepted)
- Medical school transcript
- United States Medical Licensing Examination transcripts
- USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 required for all applicants
- For pending Step 2 examination or results, an official transcript with scores must be submitted before rank list certification deadline
- USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 required for all applicants
- Personal statement
The Rush Neurology Residency Program will consider sponsorship of J-1 visas. International applicants must also include valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification at the time of application. For more information, visit the Visas for Residents and Fellows page.
Applicants who graduated from medical school more than two years ago must demonstrate proof of clinical work or continuing medical education. U.S. clinical experience is preferred but not required.
