The CCRS assists individuals and project teams with:
- Project development and ongoing consultation during project implementation and data analysis activities
- Institutional Review Board applications
- Manuscript preparation
- Abstract development and submission for local, regional, national and international venues
- Poster/oral presentation development
- Individual support with data management and statistical analyses, focused literature reviews and project instrument/tool(s) selection
- Collaboration with clinical staff including physicians, pharmacists, physical, speech, and occupational therapists, among others, serve to provide their clinical expertise and consultation
Other scholarship and educational activities include:
- Rush Nurse Research Fellowship (RNRF) Program for Clinical Nurses – The RNRF provides an infrastructure for Rush University System for Health direct care nurses to receive dedicated research time and mentorship to develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate a research study. - Clinical grand rounds to highlight research and clinical practice topics
- Annual research symposium to showcase ongoing evidence-based and research projects
- Disseminating clinical and research journals to the clinical floors
- Online journal club
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), Research, and Quality Improvement
The Center for Clinical Research and Scholarship provides a series of learning activities covering Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), Research, and Quality Improvement. The 5 modules cover fundamental concepts and provide examples of: how to search and evaluate evidence, basic statistics and research designs, and developing a project/proposal.
Each module has allocated CE credit, you can select a particular module to take or complete all 5.
- Module 1 What is EBP, What is Research, What is QI, and How do they Apply to Nursing? (0.5 credits)
- Module 2 Looking at the Evidence and Research Designs (0.75 credits)
- Module 3 Statistics and Evaluating Research Designs (1.0 credits)

The Center for Research and Scholarship has been working with the library to help meet the needs of nurses.
Patricia Chavez, the Reference Librarian and Education Coordinator at Rush University Medical Center has prepared a useful library orientation guide for nursing. The guide includes a section on journal selection for publication, short modules on research and evidence based practice as well as other helpful resources.
