You take didactic coursework in both online and on-campus formats. Clinical practice sites are located in the Chicago area.

This means many program advisers and clinical faculty are practicing nurse practitioners who have clinical experience that will enrich your learning. 

Program Length and Location

Our program is offered on a part-time basis and is hybrid of online and on-campus courses. 

You can complete the program in three to five terms.  

Your start term and completion time will vary depending on the course work you took in your master’s or doctoral APRN program.  

You will need to commit two to three days to school each week when you start the clinical practicum.

Adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioners practice in academic medical centers, community hospitals and practices.  

They work in many settings, including the following: 

  • Critical care units 
  • Inpatient units 
  • Outpatient specialty settings 
  • Specialty practices, such as neurosurgery, cardiology, hematology, trauma and orthopedics 
  • Subacute settings
