User Access and Permissions

Thank you for being a RUSH University content editor! Keeping the website accurate and up-to-date has a big impact on our audiences – both internal and external to the University – so we appreciate you accepting the responsibility. We'll try to make it as easy as possible for you to do this important work.

Getting access

  1. Contact the administrator with "Website Access Request" as the subject.
  2. You'll be sent information on how to start your training. Training is provided through a video session, which you can complete at your own pace.
  3. Once you've completed the training video, notify the administrator. They will create your account and send you log-in instructions.
  4. After logging in, you'll be able to edit your profile to change your password.

Content Editor capabilities

As an editor, you'll be given permissions for pages related to your specific department, lab, office, etc. While you're logged in, the Content Overview page shows all published and unpublished webpages on the site. You'll see an Edit button next to any page you have permissions to modify.

As a content editor you can edit existing pages to change text, images, and more. Editors can also create new basic pages (a universal content type with lots of versatility – this is the primary template, used for almost every page of the website) and faculty profile pages.

Degree program landing pages have specific content needs and a customized template. If your account includes access to manage content for academic degree programs, you will be able to edit those pages. Please contact the administrator to create a new landing page if a new academic degree program is established.

Whether you're editing an existing page or creating a new one, all edits must be submitted through a moderation workflow. An administrator will review your changes just to ensure that they are in keeping with the site's function and governance, then approve them. Until the moderator approves your draft, your changes will not be live on the website.
