Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship

Welcome!

The decision was made to decrease the number of fellows from 2 to 0 for the academic year 2021-2022.

The Rush Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program provides exceptional training in general and interventional pediatric cardiology. You’ll build the knowledge and skills required to become a successful pediatric cardiology attending physician, treating children with heart disease and adults with congenital heart disease. Rush University graduates hold prestigious positions in the U.S. and around the world and are well-prepared to pursue subspecialty training in other areas, such as imaging and intervention.

The distinctive training experience at Rush is founded on a well-designed curriculum, faculty that includes world-renowned specialists in pediatric cardiology, and a state-of-the-art facility, Rush University Children’s Hospital/Rush University Medical Center. Situated in the amazing city of Chicago, fellows can enjoy all of our program advantages and explore all that the city has to offer!

In our dynamic fellowship training program, you’ll do the following:

  • Master clinical sciences principles, providing care in inpatient, cardiac ICU and outpatient settings for children with heart disease and adults with congenital heart disease
  • Gain understanding of the indications and use of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, including echocardiography, non-invasive and invasive electrophysiology, and diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization, among others
  • Develop the skills and habits to perform with excellence as a health care provider who continuously improves patient care through ongoing self-evaluation and lifelong learning
  • Gain strong verbal and written communication skills to enhance team collaboration and effectiveness in all settings
  • Develop the health care system knowledge needed to effectively call on resources to ensure optimal cardiac patient care

Participation in three prestigious venues enhances training and is a foundational element of learning. These include the Pediatric Interventional Cardiac Symposium, Fetal Cardiac Symposium and Pediatric Cardiology.

Thank you for your interest in our program!
