The Rush University Musculoskeletal Radiology fellowship is an ACGME-approved, one-year program based at Midwest Orthopedics and Rush University Medical Center.

Program Highlights

We are a high functioning musculoskeletal section with seven board certified musculoskeletal radiologists dedicated to teaching our residents and fellows. The fellowship focuses on sports medicine, rheumatology, bone and soft tissue sarcomas evaluation and general orthopedics. We perform daily orthopedic procedures such as joint injections and aspirations.  We also perform ultrasound guided steroid injections. We also provide imaging and care for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Joffrey Ballet and multiple college/minor league athletic teams.

Clinical Training

The fellow reads all musculoskeletal modalities including MRI, CT, Xray and ultrasound from Midwest Orthopedics and Rush University Medical Center.  We provide dedicated time for research projects and electives.  The fellow also spends time in interventional radiology, neuroradiology and nuclear medicine reading musculoskeletal related cases and spine.

Multidisciplinary Conferences

Fellows are responsible for the radiology presentation of the bone tumor and sarcoma conference each Wednesday. Fellows are also encouraged to attend the foot and ankle conference and orthopedic grand rounds.

Didactics, Research and teaching

Fellows participate in case conferences, journal club, and are expected to give periodic resident lectures.

Research is encouraged and supported; fellows are expected to complete a scholarly project and are given research time as needed.

Fellows teach residents and medical students through clinical work and didactics.  We also have periodic orthopedic residents join our service.
