Gifts to RUSH Medical College and to our residency and fellowship programs allow you to strengthen medical training and make a difference in the lives of aspiring RUSH physicians. Support from RUSH Medical College graduates and former residents and fellows continues to be vital to a RUSH medical education.
Scholarships for today’s medical students
New graduates leave RUSH Medical College with more than shiny, new degrees and exciting plans for their medical training: They also take with them an average of nearly $200,000 in debt.
Your gift to the RUSH Medical College Alumni Association Scholarship will help defray the rising costs of medical education, so RUSH can remain competitive in attracting and retaining the most promising students, regardless of their financial means. This much-needed financial assistance also helps RUSH to minimize student indebtedness and diversify its student body, two factors that have a big impact on RUSH’s reputation — and the value of a RUSH diploma.
The alumni scholarship helped to reduce my debt burden and allowed me to have a wide range of career options upon finishing my training."
Alumni and student programming, networking and events
Your connection to RUSH doesn't end when you graduate. All RUSH Medical College graduates and former residents and fellows are lifetime members in the RUSH Medical College Alumni Association. Your support of the alumni association fund helps strengthen that connection, through networking opportunities and events and programming available to medical students and alumni.
Gifts to this fund also help to provide unique educational opportunities and resources to students, residents and fellows, such as the following:
- Student participation in faculty research through the RMC Alumni Summer Research Program each year, with 15 students sponsored in 2015
- White coats and stethoscopes for first-year students, as well as white coats for first-year residents
- Networking opportunities and events that help students build lasting connections with alumni and former residents and fellows
Generous alumni support enabled me to spend my summer conducting research alongside emergency medicine faculty members. I was exposed to new areas of medicine, worked toward a publication and broadened my understanding of public health — and I know that I am now significantly more prepared for residency.
Recognizing your generosity
Alumni and friends who support the college with annual gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized through membership in the Benjamin Rush Society. A provision for RUSH in your estate plan qualifies you for membership in the RUSH Heritage Society.
For more information about whether your gift will qualify you for membership in the society, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (312) 942-7199 or email@example.com.
While medical scholarships and the RUSH Medical College Alumni Association are two of the most meaningful ways to strengthen the college, there are many ways to support RUSH. If you have questions about your gift or membership in our giving societies, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (312) 942-7199 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
