Bio
I received a bachelor’s degree in foreign language, specializing in Spanish, from Marquette University and a master’s degree in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies from Rush University. I am an assistant professor in the Rush PA program whose clinical practice is concentrated in internal medicine, with a special focus on addiction and psychiatric medicine. My research interests include: medication-assisted treatment in substance use disorders, curriculum design, educational advancement, and management of underserved communities. I remain passionate about underserved communities, volunteering with the Rush Community Outreach programs in my spare time and continue to practice psychiatric and addiction medicine.
What inspired you to get into your field?
Improving patient outcomes through education and patient empowerment is what inspired me.
What excited you about your work at Rush?
Being able to contribute to the education here at Rush University is what excited me.
What is your opinion of mentoring and sponsorship? Please comment about your experiences.
Mentoring and sponsorship are incredibly important in the cultivation and advancement of clinicians, researchers and faculty.
Do you have tips or advice you would recommend for someone looking to enter your field of work?
Academia is hard work, but the products are so worth the effort!
What are your hobbies? How do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy knitting, dancing and singing.
