Calcium signaling, single channel recordings, inositol triphosphate receptor, ryanodine receptor
Under the guidance of Josefina Ramos-Franco MD, PhD, we use a multidisciplinary approach, from the cellular to the molecular levels, to understand the Ca2+ release mediated by IP3R & RyR channels and its mechanism(s) of local Ca2+ control in cells. If we can understand their function under physiological conditions, then we will be able to gain insights into the role these channels play in heart pathologies associated with altered Ca2+ dynamics.
