Being admitted to a hospital can pose significant challenges, both physical and emotional. Specialists with the Section of Psychiatry and Medicine at RUSH are here to help, providing care for patients admitted for a variety of conditions and procedures.
While some patients experience anxiety or depression, others show signs of cognitive or behavioral difficulties secondary to their illnesses. Because the conditions interfere with patients’ quality of life and can affect their overall health, effective treatment is essential.
The section also provides care for patients dealing with cancer, end-of-life issues, chronic pain and organ and stem cell transplantation.
