The Staff Spotlight recognizes and celebrates achievements and contributions made by non-faculty staff to the successful operation of the University. This is an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and exemplary performance of individuals and teams that deserve special recognition. All non-faculty staff employed, both full-time and part-time, by RUSH University are eligible to be recognized in the Staff Spotlight; it is also possible to nominate a whole team rather than an individual.
There are two award periods each year. Nominations are open year-round; nominees will be reviewed as candidates for the next upcoming review period.
First Nomination Period
- Review Period: December 9, 2024 - December 13, 2024
- Awardee/Honorable Mentions Announced: at Staff Open Forum on December 19, 2024
Second Nomination Period
- Review Period: Spring 2025 exact dates to be determined
- Awardee/Honorable Mentions Announced: in Spring 2025

Kelly Boles
Kelly is a Manager of Research and Student Affairs in the department of Microbial Pathogens and Immunity and Division of Translational Science.
Kelly was nominated for her professionalism, strategic thinking, and unwavering dedication that make her an integral part of her team. From her nominations:
“Kelly played a significant role in the transition to the newly formed Division of Translational Science (DTS) within Rush Medical College. Her ability to strategically address challenges, coupled with her deep understanding of organizational processes, made her an indispensable part of the transition's success.”

Vicki Nelson
Vicki is a Clinical Research Coordinator for the department of Internal Medicine Epidemiology.
Vicki was nominated for her willingness to stay late to assist with urgent issues, step in to support staffing gaps, and taking the time to check in on her team's well-being. From her nominations:
“Vicki exemplifies exceptional leadership by going above and beyond multiple times a day for her research assistants. She makes sure that all her staff are taken care of both professionally and personally and it is truly hard to have a bad day while in her presence.”
