Anesthesiology Residency

The Department of Anesthesiology’s four-year residency program offers an integrated and progressive clinical experience that provides residents with a broad scientific background and the clinical expertise necessary to excel in anesthesiology for the duration of their professional lives.

Cognizant of the ever-changing environment of medicine, our department has continued to build on more than four decades of research and practice, developing and advancing new therapies and improving educational programs, which have helped to grow the department’s well-established reputation in the medical and academic community. Recognition for the enduring quality of our residency program has continued as well, having received in 2012 an unprecedented sixth consecutive five-year AGGME accreditation. Currently the program is in the midst of a 10 year accreditation cycle.

Our accomplished faculty and staff, with their enthusiasm, experience and wide-ranging skills and backgrounds, provide the critical guidance and instruction to our residents, many of whom have gone on to become leaders in academic and community-based practices.

Our residents benefit from the innovation, growth and development of Rush University Medical Center and the Rush System for Health, a regional health care network, which is one of the largest private hospital systems in Illinois, serving a diverse population of patients throughout metropolitan Chicago. At Rush, we are committed to promoting equity and inclusiveness for all individuals in our organization and feel strongly that those efforts are crucial to successfully living our mission.

We understand that the key to our continued success lies in the efforts we make year-in and year-out providing our residents with the clinical expertise necessary for each one to excel in the medical practice of anesthesiology. We invite you to take the challenge and join us; be a part of the legacy and future of the Rush University Department of Anesthesiology.
