Research Opportunities

Postdoctoral researcher

A postdoctoral researcher is sought to join the Gupta lab in the Department of Internal Medicine at Rush University. The project is to implement a novel high-throughput chemical screen and to apply candidate compounds in experimental models of inflammatory and renal diseases.

We are particularly focused on the following:

  • Immune cell recruitment/models of inflammation
  • Models of glomerular diseases, such as FSGS and diabetic nephropathy.

A brief description of projects can be found elsewhere in the Gupta section of this website.

Requirements include a MD or PhD in life sciences with cell biology/immunology background. Mammalian cell culture, experience with small animal handling, molecular biology techniques and organizational skills are required.

Prior experience with some of the following techniques is required:

  • High-throughput screening
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Vertebrate biology
  • Working with small animals
  • Cell transfection assays
  • Flow cytometry (FACS)
  • Molecular biology (PCR, cloning, plasmid purification, RT-PCR).

Candidates must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and efficient, and must interact well with others as part of a team. The successful candidate must also have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.

Due to grant funding restrictions, U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) applicants are preferred.
