Data Management

The Research Applications team serves as a strategic technology partner within Rush Digital & Information Services in advancing clinical, animal, and basic translational research across the Chicagoland region. We enable innovation by delivering enterprise-grade applications and operational support that power the full research lifecycle – from study conception through execution and reporting.

Our mission is to build a sustained, modern, scalable, and secure research technology ecosystem that evolves alongside the needs of our research investigators. Through thoughtful architecture, seamless system integration, and continuous optimization, we ensure that research infrastructure remains resilient, compliant, and positioned for long-term growth.

As a centralized hub for research technology services, we empower Rush investigators and research teams to conduct compliant, efficient, and data-driven research. Our integrated digital environment supports the end-to-end research process—facilitating protocol submission and IRB review through the Rush Research Portal, enabling grand submission to NIH, supporting data collection through platforms like REDCap, and managing subject scheduling and coverage analysis via the Clinical Trial Management System (ONCore/CTMS) with downstream integration to Epic.

These interconnected systems generate critical data assets that enable us to support the Office of Research Affairs through a robust research data warehouse, advanced analytics, interactive dashboards, and data visualization capabilities that enhance operational insight and decision-making.

We further drive interoperability and automation across the research enterprise through customized API development and system integrations, enabling seamless data exchange between RRP, REDCap, OnCore/CTMS, and Epic. By reducing administrative burden, strengthening data integrity, and improving workflow efficiency, we accelerate discovery and elevate research performance.

Through innovation, collaboration, and service excellence, the Research Application team transforms technology into a strategic enabler of research success.
