Emily completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree at Rush University in 2016, during which time she also served as a student instructor creating a pathophysiology review session for first term Generalist Entry Masters (GEM) students and a two-day medical-surgical review for advanced term GEM students. She obtained her Clinical Nurse Leader certification as well in 2016.
In clinical practice, Emily is a Registered Nurse III at Rush Oak Park Hospital in the Emergency Department. There she has incorporated her love of teaching into her practice by serving as a content-expert on a variety of topics including the care of sexual assault survivors and the emergency care of pediatric patients, and has created new educational materials and department policies to enhance patient care. Emily is a Certified Emergency Nurse, a licensed Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, and is in the process of becoming a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
Emily is an instructor in the advanced medical-surgical term of the GEM program teaching both the simulated clinical rotation as well as collaborating with medical faculty to lead the interprofessional simulation experiences for 3rd year medical students and 5th term GEM students. She is also a staff member in the Nursing Learning Lab where she continues to lead term-specific review sessions for GEM students, serves as a resource for students and staff throughout the College of Nursing, and facilitates student advancement through individual and group learning sessions.
