Dear Prospective Fellow,
The faculty and I take immense pride in leading one of the premier interventional pain fellowships in the country. Our commitment is to train future leaders, educators, and expert clinicians in the field of Pain Medicine. I am proud to share that Rush Pain Fellowship graduates are highly sought after by both academic institutions and private practices nationwide, a testament to the strength of our program.
At Rush, fellows receive comprehensive training across the full spectrum of pain medicine. Most of your fellowship will take place at Rush University Medical Center, a state-of-the-art facility with over 600 beds and a robust network of specialists across all major disciplines. Our fellows benefit from access to cutting-edge technology, advanced procedural training, and a collaborative learning environment.
In addition to training at Rush University Medical Center, fellows rotate through a variety of clinical settings to gain diverse experiences. These include Rush Oak Brook Surgery Center for ambulatory interventional pain procedures and exposure to advanced techniques in spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation. These rotations ensure that you develop the confidence and competence to practice pain medicine in any setting, whether academic, hospital-based, or private practice.
Our faculty members are among the best in the field—highly skilled, enthusiastic, and committed to your education and mentorship. You will work closely with faculty mentors who will guide your clinical development, research endeavors, and career goals. Many of our faculty are actively engaged in national organizations, contributing to the advancement of interventional pain medicine.
The Rush Pain Fellowship is accredited by the ACGME and maintains a rigorous yet supportive learning environment. We place a strong emphasis on education through a structured didactic curriculum designed to prepare fellows for the American Board of Anesthesiology Pain Medicine certification exam. Additionally, our program emphasizes hands-on procedural training, evidence-based medicine, and practice management strategies to prepare you for success beyond fellowship.
As your Program Director, I am committed to fostering a culture of growth, transparency, and continuous improvement. We highly value fellow input and feedback to enhance the program, and we recognize that our fellows are our greatest asset. Your well-being is just as important as your education, and we have resources in place to support you throughout your training.
Our ideal candidate is motivated, proactive, and possesses the communication skills necessary to work within multidisciplinary teams. If you aspire to be a leader in pain medicine, whether in academia or private practice, Rush will provide you with the tools to excel.
We look forward to meeting you and hope you will strongly consider Rush in your journey to becoming an exceptional pain physician.
Sincerely,
Tolga Suvar, MD
