Resident Life
One of the best parts about our residency is how close our residents are. Activities are organized both by the department and by the residents. They include:
- Welcome happy hour for the new interns
- Resident recreational sports leagues – rotating sports throughout the year! They are open to residents and their significant others - Go Team Gang Green!
- I’s and O’s – a monthly happy hour
- Resident winter party
- House Staff Ball – a night to get dressed up and enjoy drinks and dancing with other Rush residents
- Retreats – each class has their own all-day retreat with a social event afterwards. The second year class has an overnight retreat.
There are also plenty of things to do around the city of Chicago! Our residents live in a variety of neighborhoods, and each one has something different to offer. Some of our residents’ favorite things to do around the city include:
-
Chicago’s amazing food and restaurant scene, including Restaurant Week Chicago
-
Beaches along Lake Michigan, the lake front trail, Chicago riverwalk, Millennium Park with free concerts and Movie in the Park series - and lots more greenspace through out the city.
-
Chicago Symphony Orchestra aka CSO — Rush residents can sign up to be “doctor of the house” and get free tickets all year long
-
Catching a professional sport game/match of the: White Sox, Cubs, Sky, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, Chicago Red Stars and of course Chicago Fire FC – Rush is the official team doctor for the White Sox and the Bulls, so residents can often obtain discounted or free tickets!
-
Concerts, festivals, and endless neighborhood events

Mini horses are therapeutic for all!
