- We emphasize Mentorship and Personal Development, while creating an experience that values the fellow's academic and clinical interests.
- Protected time for supervision, professional development, personal growth, ACLP conference attendance, and preparation to take the board certification for C-L psychiatry.
- An extremely robust educational environment that provides exposure to unparalleled diversity and complexity of clinical cases, nested within an extremely diverse patient population. RUSH is well known for accepting complex conditions and provides care to a very diverse group of patients both within the Chicagoland area, as well the Midwest and nationally. Fellows will have an opportunity to see rare cases in clinical psychiatry, medicine, neurology, and surgery.
- Teaching of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking as germane to the practice of C-L psychiatry.
- Selective time: two four-week blocks which can be tailored to particular interests in sub-fields of consultation psychiatry (e.g. MICU, SICU, Mother-Baby Unit, Outpatient Women’s Mental Health, and other areas).
- C-L Sub-specialty niche experiences in (a) Transplant Psychiatry (kidney, pancreas, liver), (b) Psycho-oncology, and (c) Epilepsy, Movement, and Functional Neurologic Disorders—in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participation on our substance use intervention team (SUIT) service, something that is not readily available at other centers. In addition, the fellow can join our two board-certified medical toxicologists in seeing toxicology consults throughout the hospital.
- The beautiful, multicultural, vibrant city of Chicago is known for its captivating architecture, musical, theatrical, and fine arts, its culinary creativity, outdoor activities, and Midwest charm!
- The fellow shall have no responsibilities in the Emergency Department and no on-call duties.
- Working in the beautiful Tower—a bright, spacious, natural-light friendly building known for its distinctive "butterfly" appearance—that offers incredible views of the Chicago skyline as well as outdoor yoga!
