Wellness

Fellow wellness is a top priority of our program and RUSH’s GME community.

  • RUSH GME provides a quarterly meal stipend to help offset daily food costs as well as $1000 annual educational/conference reimbursement.  RUSH Cardiology provides an additional $1000 annual educational/conference reimbursement.  Each fellow is provided a desk and computer in the Cardiology Fellows’ Office.
  • The fellows’ schedule is structured to prioritize wellness.  We provide a graduated responsibility system that allows maximal elective and research time during the 3rd year of fellowship.  There is no home overnight call. We provide a night float system which significantly minimizes the number of weekends and 24-hour calls that are required of each fellow.  Fellows will never be scheduled to work on a post-call day.
  • RUSH prioritizes wellness outside the hospital, with regularly planned social events and conferences that allow you to fully experience the amazing breadth of opportunities Chicago has to offer.
  • We have a monthly fellows’ breakfast meeting where program leadership provides program updates, rotation check-ins, and efficient changes based on feedback.
