At the start of their training, fellows are matched with a research mentor and have the opportunity to participate in either ongoing or self-initiated research protocols.
Over the course of the fellowship, three to six months can be dedicated to research activities.
It is expected that each fellow presents at least at one national scientific meeting and completes at least one manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
Each fellow also develops and presents lectures at Friday Clinical Conference to an audience of their peers and faculty.
