"By completing a DNP and the acute care PNP certification at Rush, I was prepared for a role to care for infants, children, and adolescents with heart failure and heart transplants. This includes when patients are both inpatient critically ill and outpatient for specialized care. In addition to direct patient care, my DNP work provided the foundation to contribute to quality improvement and research projects that are transforming the standards of practice across the heart transplant community. I feel privileged to call myself a Rush alumni and be able to work with an amazing interprofessional team focused on improving patient outcomes and quality of life. Without the Rush program, I would not have been able to succeed in my dream job as a heart transplant nurse practitioner."
