Admissions requirements

To be considered for admission into the PhD in health sciences program, you will need to demonstrate the following qualifications:

  1. Masters degree or higher earned from a regionally-accredited college or university prior to matriculation
  2. Appropriate certification or licensure in your health science profession by a major U.S. certification or licensing agency, as applicable
  3. Health care experience in your professional area of study
  4. Prior research experience, especially in a medical or biomedical environment
  5. Overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Entry term: Fall (September)
Application cycle: September - June 1
Deadline to submit application: June 1
Deadline to establish research mentor: July 15

To apply to the PhD in health sciences program, complete the following steps:

Complete an application using the Allied Health Centralized Application Service (AHCAS).

You will also need to submit the following through AHCAS:

  1. Official transcripts from every U.S. college or university attended
  2. International course evaluations for coursework completed at a college or university outside the United States
  3. Three professional recommendations from persons who are knowledgeable about the quality of your scholarly activities or work experiences
  4. Personal statement
  5. Resume or CV

③ If your native language is not English, submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.

④ Participate in an interview with the division director.
