The promotion of faculty at Rush University is based on the University Rules for Governance and each college’s specific policies and procedures for faculty ranks and appointments, reappointments, and promotions. Faculty members should first meet with their Department Chairperson to discuss options for reappointment or promotion. Please review the full process before proceeding to submit an appointment, reappointment, or promotion packet.
Each college has different times when their specific faculty council reviews appointment/reappointment/promotion packets and determines who has been approved.
The College of Nursing Appointments and Promotions Committee (CONAPC) consists of five members, and reviews recommendations of candidates for faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions to senior rank. In the nursing college, appointment, reappointment, or promotion to a senior rank must first be approved by CONAPC before the committee’s recommendations are forwarded to the dean and Faculty Senate for final approval. To further understand the processes of CONAPC, view CONAPC policies.
The College of Nursing Faculty Senate is the Senior Representative body for the college; it reviews and approves all primary, joint, and non-primary appointments, reappointments, and promotions for all faculty within the college. All junior faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions are reviewed and approved only by the Faculty Senate.
