The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® funds patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER). CER compares the potential benefits and harms of different healthcare options, generating evidence that empowers patients, caregivers and other healthcare decision makers with information to make informed choices that reflect their needs and preferences.
PCORI® was established to help address the challenges clinicians and their patients experience in getting daily healthcare questions answered. Their work is dedicated to closing the gaps in the evidence that is needed to improve key health outcomes.
PCORI® is also a funder of PCORnet®, a fully integrated network of vast, highly representative health data, research expertise and patient insights.
Funding opportunities
PCORI® funds CER through contracts rather than grant awards. The contracts are milestone- and deliverable-driven, and payment is strictly tied to expenses related to successful performance and achievement of contract milestones and deliverables.
