The Journal of Global Otolaryngology in Global Health (JGO) was founded to address the historic underrepresentation of otolaryngology within global surgery literature and to create a unified platform for collaboration, research, and education. JGO serves as an open-access forum for clinicians, trainees, and researchers to share innovations, best practices, and evidence-based approaches in delivering ENT care across diverse and resource-limited settings. By connecting the global otolaryngology community, the journal aims to advance equitable access to care, support sustainable program development, and cultivate a network of providers dedicated to improving OHNS outcomes worldwide.
Editorial Leadership
Alongside Dr. Ashok Jagasia, MD, PhD, the Journal of Global Otolaryngology is led by an international editorial team composed of board-certified otolaryngologists representing a broad range of subspecialties within the field. Editorial leadership includes experts in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, head and neck surgical oncology, rhinology and skull base surgery, otology, and more.
The editorial team is specifically designed to encompass clinicians from both the United States and global regions abroad to ensure subspecialty-specific expertise, geographic representation, and clinical relevance across varied healthcare settings. Our team supports rigorous review, balanced decision making, high ethical standards, and publication of high-quality applicable global ENT research.
Submit Your Work
We encourage submissions from clinicians, trainees, researchers, and global health practitioners engaged in otolaryngology and related fields. Submissions undergo a structured peer-review process to ensure quality, relevance, and ethical integrity. There are no article processing charges (APCs), or publication fees for authors.
Authors are encouraged to submit original research, reviews, perspectives, and educational content that advance evidence-based practice, program development, and equitable access to ENT care worldwide.
Topics for the journal will include, but are not limited to, research on the establishment and maturation of otolaryngology residency programs in developing countries, techniques for providing surgical care in low resource settings, and best practices for culturally compassionate care. We will also bring attention to regions of the world where otolaryngology care is least accessible, encouraging qualified providers to find ways to bring their expertise to the area via surgical mission trips, telemedicine-based support systems, and other innovative methods. By creating a space to share regional knowledge, best practices, and groundbreaking solutions, this journal offers a tool to bridge gaps in understanding and elevate patient care standards globally. Long-term, the platform will serve as a database of knowledge for forthcoming generations of otolaryngology providers to reference and learn from as they establish their practices around the world and devise solutions to the most pressing issues facing the field.
In summary, this journal promises to offer a new modality for the global otolaryngology community to engage, teach, and share best practices in regard to current research, relevant topics, effective strategies, and innovation with the goal of elevating OHNS health care and delivery worldwide. The journal would be designed to engage global participants at all levels and will inevitably facilitate, foster, and build a network of medical providers that can effectively work and share knowledge in the space of global otolaryngology.
All articles published in the journal are openly-accessible through the official journal website. As an open-access journal, we ensure that readers worldwide can engage with current research and global perspectives without subscription barriers.
