College of Nursing’s Swanson Named Associate Editor of the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care

Barbara Swanson, PhD, RN, FAAN, has been named an associate editor of the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. She will contribute to the goal of growing the journal’s impact on all aspects of the HIV epidemic in order to improve the lives of people living with HIV infection.

Swanson is a professor in the Department of Adult Health and Gerontological Nursing in the Rush University College of Nursing and is director of the PhD in Nursing Science program.

She has been involved in clinical care and research targeted at people living with HIV infection since 1987. Swanson has studied inflammatory processes, dyslipidemia, and the use of complementary and alternative medicine in HIV infection.

Her current research focuses on the use of marine oils to favorably modulate gut function and the microbiome in HIV.

Swanson also served as the lead editor of the third edition of ANAC’S Core Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Nursing.
