Timothy M. Kuzel, MD, was previously a Professor of Medicine and Dermatology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. While there he directed the GU and Cutaneous Oncology Programs at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center for over 25 years. He has a long interest in developing novel immunotherapy approaches to the diseases in the program, such as malignant melanoma, merkel cell carcinomas, cutaneous lymphomas, renal cell cancer and prostate cancer. Additionally, while at Northwestern he was the Director of the Driskill Immunotherapy Research Program at Northwestern University, a large philanthropic program focused on developing novel immunology based treatments of melanoma and prostate cancer.
Kuzel received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Northwestern University. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Kuzel has previously received the American Cancer Society Clinical Oncology Career Development Award and has been a recipient o teaching awards from the Division of Hematology/Oncology of the Feinberg School of Medicine and has been frequently listed as one of Chicago’s Best Doctors. He has authored or co-authored over 250 journal articles, editorials, and book chapters and has edited several textbooks.
Kuzel has participated on numerous national, state, hospital, university/medical school, and cancer center committees, including multiple NCCN guidelines panels. He has been President of the Illinois Medical Oncology Society, and is an active member of professional societies such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Society for Immunologic Therapy of Cancer.
