Natalie Witek, MD, MS joined the section of Movement disorders in July of 2019, after completing her fellowship in Movement Disorders and Masters in Clinical Investigation at Rush University. She graduated from Boston University School of Medicine with highest honors. She completed her internship and neurology residency training at University of California, San Francisco, where she served as chief resident during her final year. She was awarded the Michael J. Fox Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in movement disorders, and is a member of the AOA and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. In order to improve access to care, she has taught healthcare providers in rural Honduras, Mexico, and Yemen.
She was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, and looks forward to reestablishing her roots and giving back to her community. She was drawn to treating patients with movement disorders given the potential for developing lasting relationships with her patients and the potential to offer them therapies that can greatly improve their lives, ranging from diet and regular exercise to interventional therapies such as deep brain stimulation.
She is currently participating in clinical trials at Rush. Her research interests aim to better understand the role of immune dysfunction in patients with movement disorders with a goal of identifying medical therapies that can change the underlying disease process causing movement disorders.
