Mahboobeh (Maha) Mahdavinia, MD., PhD., FAAAAI, is a physician-scientist with a background in immunology of allergic diseases and a PhD in molecular epidemiology. Mahdavinia runs several national and international research collaborations including a large study in South Africa and birth cohorts to understand the pathogenesis of allergic development in early childhood. Her research is focused on the interplay of microbiome and disparity in allergic diseases which have resulted in key publications related to microbiome and health disparity in allergic diseases. She is the recipient of several awards and research grants and has mentored multiple successful trainees during her career. She has served on the editorial board of three Immunology journals and as reviewer for numerous journals and grant study sections / committees. She was elected a Fellow of the AAAAI in 2018. She is also an active writer and have published several OpEds in periodicals such as the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times. Dr Mahdavinia has been appointed as the chief of allergy and Immunology division at Rush University in 2020.
