Katrina Burns, MD, is trained in psychiatry with a sub-specialization in consultation-liaison psychiatry. She works on the psychiatry consultation service as well as in the emergency room evaluating patients with psychiatric conditions. She also works with the University Transplant Program, providing psychiatric consultations for potential kidney transplantation donors and liver transplantation recipients.
Burns has a specific interest in patients with serious mental illnesses, neuropsychiatry, and ethics as well as medical student and resident education. She supervises residents in psychopharmacology as well as providing lectures to residents on consultation-liaison psychiatry and psychopharmacology. Burns is involved in the third year medical student psychiatry clerkship, where she lectures and supervises students.
