Letter from our Chief Resident

Welcome to the Rush Copley Family Medicine Residency!

Our program is unique in so many ways. One of the biggest advantages is that we're an unopposed residency, which means we're pretty much the only residents in the hospital. That translates into incredible hands-on learning opportunities and the chance to truly make the most of every clinical experience.

Whether you want to place central lines, respond to a code, deliver babies in the middle of the night, perform joint injections, participate in prenatal care, provide gender-affirming care, or get involved in hospital leadership, our residency gives you the flexibility to tailor your training to your interests and career goals. The curriculum offers a broad range of clinical experiences while still supporting a healthy work-life balance. By graduation, our residents leave feeling confident, capable, and well prepared for independent practice.
Our graduates have gone on to pursue a wide variety of careers, including urgent care, hospital medicine, wound care, sports medicine fellowships, addiction medicine fellowships, traditional outpatient family medicine, academics, and locum tenens. No matter what path you choose, Rush Copley provides the training and support to help you get there.

One of my favorite parts of this program is our faculty. They are genuinely invested in our success and are always right by our side. We're also excited to welcome a new core faculty member this academic year! Every attending brings their own clinical expertise and passion for teaching, creating an environment that encourages curiosity, growth, and psychological safety. They are approachable, supportive, and always willing to help you reach your professional milestones and career goals.

As for the area, while we're not located in downtown Chicago, Aurora/Naperville offers the best of both worlds. We have a beautiful campus with modern facilities and an accessible parking garage. We're a stone's throw from Naperville, which offers a ton of amazing restaurants and activities. One of my favorite things to do is to walk the Naperville Riverwalk. The area has a great mix of suburban comfort with easy access to city amenities, and the cost of living is very reasonable!

Rush Copley also offers a competitive resident salary and excellent benefits. It makes a real difference and allows you to focus on what matters most — taking great care of your patients while making the most of your residency experience.
We'd love to have you learn more about our program. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. We hope to meet you soon, and best of luck throughout the interview season!
