Biography: Kenneth Yokosawa, MD was named the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Residency Program Director in March 2014 and has over 28 years of experience in Medical education. He served as the Family Medicine Clerkship Director for Michigan State University/College of Human Medicine, and was full-time faculty for the Michigan State University/Genesys Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. During his tenure as full time faculty, Yokosawa served 5 years as Assistant Program Director and 14 years as the Program Director.
Yokosawa is board certified in Family Medicine and has completed several fellowship training programs: Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship at OMERAD/Michigan State University, CHM East Lansing, Michigan; Faculty Development Fellowship NIPDD I AFPRD/National Institute for Program Director Development, Kansas City, Missouri; and the Advanced Faculty Development Fellowship NIPDD II AFMRD/National Institute for Program Director Development II, Kansas City, Missouri.
In 2010-2012, as the co-principal developer for the Michigan State University CHM/GRMC and Zhejiang University Medical School/SRRSH Hospital Collaboration, Yokosawa successfully developed the first ACGME-ready Family Medicine Residency in Hangzhou, China. Over the years, he has received numerous awards of recognition, including Excellence in Teaching for Outstanding Full-Time Faculty, Outstanding Community Faculty Award, Certificate of Excellence for Teaching, and most recently the Program Director's Achievement Award.
Cynthia Hays, PhD

Biography: Cynthia Hays, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association. An Iowa native, she graduated with honors from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She earned her Master’s degree at the University of Colorado and her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Northern Illinois University. She completed her residency training at RUSH Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Pediatric Psychology. Hays continued on to a post-doctoral fellowship at The University of Chicago Hospitals in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her training was conducted in the Hyperactivity, Attention, and Learning Problems specialty clinic. She has also completed a two-year post-graduate program in Neuropsychology at the Fielding Graduate Institute with a specialized focus on pediatric neuropsychological assessments. Hays has spent the past 15 years in private practice, providing neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults between the ages of 4-22.
Hays currently holds a part-time appointment at RUSH Copley which is jointly shared by the Physical Rehabilitation Department and the Family Medicine Residency Program. Her role as a faculty member of the Family Residency Program includes supervising and collaborating with residents about the emotional and behavioral concerns of their patients, providing didactic instruction of behavioral health topics commonly found in health care settings, and consulting with patients. Hays also provides psychological support and education to patients and staff on the acute rehabilitation unit.
Hays’ clinical interests include ADHD, Specific Learning Disabilities, Developmental Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, and Anger/Oppositional Behavior. In addition to her duties at the RUSH Copley Medical Center, Hays maintains her private practice in Hinsdale, IL where she specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents.
Shennin Hudoba, MD

Biography: Shennin Hudoba, MD, is a board certified family medicine physician. She was named Associate Program Director in January 2023. Her focus is to provide a strong learning environment for residents that will prepare them for independent practice. Prior to joining the faculty at RUSH Copley Family Residency program, she practiced outpatient and inpatient medicine with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Hudoba first realized her passion for teaching when she worked as a tutor for high school classes and college entrance exams. Her dedication to education continued during residency through teaching medical students and underclassmen. It also continued in her clinic practice with preceptorships for M3 students at Mayo Medical School and Mayo Family Medicine residents at the local free clinic.
She is an Illinois native, who grew up as an avid tennis player in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago. For her undergraduate studies, she attended Duke University where she received a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering. Afterwards, she completed a Masters of Arts in Medical Sciences at Loyola University Chicago and worked as a research assistant in pharmacogenomics at the University of Chicago. Then, she attended medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Hudoba completed her family medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she also served as chief resident.
Outside of medicine and teaching, she is passionate about family! She and her husband enjoy family vacations, playing tennis together, and watching movies. Her favorite movies include Moneyball and Big Hero 6.
Neha Kapil, MD

Biography: Neha Kapil, MD is an Illinois native and has been practicing medicine in the Fox Valley area for over 10 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of Illinois at Chicago where she receive BA in Psychology. She graduated from St. Matthew’s University of Medicine and subsequently completed her residency training at the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Residency. During her residency, Kapil published an article on Stress Fractures in American Family Physician with Deepak Patel, MD, FAAFP, FACSM and served as chief resident. After residency, she joined the Yorkville Primary Care practice affiliated with RUSH Copley Medical Center. Her practice included the full-spectrum of family medicine.
Kapil has functioned as a community faculty member since her graduation from residency supervising residents in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. She was chosen by the resident to receive the “Teacher of the Year” award in 2019. Her dedication to teaching and training new physician led to her transition to a core faculty member in 2020. Given her philosophy of keeping family healthy and her desire to understand the busy life of patients, Kapil continues her primary care practice at Yorkville Primary Care in addition to her teaching responsibilities.
Kapil was named medical director of the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Center upon her joining the core faculty. She believes teamwork and communication are the key components to building a successful clinical practice. She stresses the importance of creating rapport with patients and their families to better facilitate their care and promote health and strives to be a role model in this aspect to all our residents. Kapil has been actively involved in the RUSH Copley community and has served on several hospital committees including the Medical Executive Committee and the Medical Informatics Committee.
Deepak S. Patel, MD, FAAFP, FACSM

Biography: Deepak S. Patel, MD, FAAFP, FACSM, a RUSH Copley Medical group physician, is board certified in family medicine and primary care sports medicine. He has office locations in Aurora and Yorkville. Prior to joining RUSH Copley, Patel was Associate Director at Flower Hospital Family Medicine Residency and The Toledo Hospital Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship in Ohio.
He completed his family medicine residency at University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford and also served as chief resident. Subsequently, he completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship at University of Michigan. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, member of American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and Assistant Professor at RUSH Medical College. He has also served as Chair of the CME committee for RUSH Copley Medical Center.
Patel was honored as the recipient of the 2012 Julius S. Newman, MD Education Award which honors outstanding commitment to the education of physicians as exemplified by the late Julius S. Newman, MD by his dedication to the continuing education of fellow physicians and healthcare professionals.
He enjoys many aspects of family medicine and sports medicine, including his special interests in evidence based medicine and preventive medicine. He has authored, mentored, and served as section editor for several publications and textbooks on family medicine, but more often on sports medicine topics. He was subsection editor for the for the latest edition of the 5 Minute Sports Medicine Consult book. In 2020, he published the book Concussion Management for Primary Care. He is a contributor & editor for Dynamed and has been invited as a medical reviewer for familydoctor.org.
Patel lectures on sports medicine topics at the annual AAFP Scientific Assembly (FMX) in addition to numerous other national CME events. He was selected as chair for the 2019 AAFP Musculoskeletal and Sports Care conference, and chair for musculoskeletal content for FMX 2020. For 2021, he will be chair for AAFP’s Sports Medicine Conference and sports medicine content for FMX 2021, as well as co-chair for the Musculoskeletal Conference and musculoskeletal content for FMX 2021. Currently, Patel is also the team physician for Plano and Sandwich High Schools. He is the concussion consultant for several additional area school districts. Throughout his career, he has served as team physician for High Schools, Division-I Universities, and Semi Professional sports teams.
Steven K. Rothschild, MD

Biography: Steven K. Rothschild, MD, is a family physician, educator and researcher in the Departments of Preventive Medicine and Family Medicine at RUSH University. In addition to a 30-year clinical career focused on providing primary medical care to the medically underserved, he is an established researcher focusing on health services research, chronic illness self-management, and community- and team-based approaches to addressing health disparities. As an expert in community based participatory research, he has been an invited faculty member for the NIH Summer Institute on Design and Conduct of Randomized Clinical Trials involving behavioral interventions, sponsored by the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research. As a faculty member at RUSH, he has been recognized by students for his teaching excellence and humanism. He is also the co-convener of RUSH's interprofessionalism interest group, bringing together over 30 clinicians and faculty from across the Medical Center to improve team-based education, research and patient care. Rothschild serves on the Chicago Board of Health, the advisory committee for the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program, and the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group, where he is vice president.

Omar Aiyash, MD

Biography: Omar Aiyash, MD earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica and completed his residency training at Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health Family Medicine Residency program in Somerset, New Jersey where he served as chief resident. He is a strong believer in communication and exemplifies the process of shared decision-making in creating optimal care plans for individual patients.
Since coming to RUSH Copley, Aiyash has been an active member of the faculty both rounding with the resident team in the inpatient setting and delivering lectures during the protected Wednesday didactic teaching time. His passion for teaching is also demonstrated by his participation in patient oriented education session through RUSH Copley Medical Center. His most recent session entitled “Back on Track: Learn to Break Bad Habits” focused on maintain health during times of uncertainty.
Majad Ali, MD

Biography: Majad Ali, MD has been with RUSH Copley since 2001, where he first started as a Family Medicine resident. He was selected as “Resident Teacher of the Year” by his fellow residents and medical students. Ali is a part-time adjunct faculty member and has his own private practice. Dr. Ali likes performing in-office procedures such as joint injections and minor surgical procedures, which complement his interest in musculoskeletal medicine.
Ali graduated from UTESA (Universidad de Technologica de Santiago) and he is fluent in Spanish. He is board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2017 and 2015, Dr. Ali was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” by the residents and he received the “2011 Nursing Award for Physician of the Year.”
Sarvottam Bajaj, MD

Biography:
Sarvottam Bajaj, MD grew up in New Delhi, India and moved to the United States in 1997 to further his educational opportunities. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, and then pursued his medical degree from RUSH University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, he obtained a MS degree at RUSH University in Anatomy and Cell Biology and was heavily involved in clinical and bench research.
Bajaj graduated from the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Residency Program and he is a Hospitalist with RUSH Copley Medical Center. In 2018, Bajaj was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” by the residents.
John E. Davine, MD, FAAFP

Biography: John E. Davine, MD, FAAFP graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed residency training at the David Grant USAF Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program located at the Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. He practices full-spectrum family medicine at RUSH Copley Medical Center. Davine’s patient philosophy focuses on preventative medicine to tackle medical problems early when they are more easily treated.
Davine is the president of the Kane County Medical Society through which he assists in coordinating medical professionals efforts to influence policy decisions both locally and state-wide that impact the our patients and community. At RUSH Copley, he serves as medical advisor to the RUSH Copley Medical Group and has been an active faculty member at the residency for many years.
Garrett Katula, DO

Biography: Garrett Katula, DO graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and completed residency training at LaGrange Memorial Hospital. He practices full-spectrum family medicine at RUSH Copley Medical Center with his clinical office located at the RUSH Copley Yorkville Primary Care Center where he serves as medical director. At RUSH Copley, Katula has been an active member of the administrative team for many years. He currently is the Chief of Staff for the hospital with his term beginning in 2018.
Katula is an active member of the Yorkville community in which he practices, with activities including coaching local sports teams and being a member of the Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 Board of Education. He enjoys caring for families and related to the concerns of his patients with children, given he himself is a father, and strives to provide them with both practical medical and parental advice.
Gregory Milani, MD

Biography: Gregory Milani, MD completed his undergraduate studies at University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and subsequently graduated from Loyola University Medical Center in June of 1992. He is an advocate for finding ways to improve the care of patients. Milani remains active in several hospital committees and currently serves as the Chair of the Medication Safety Committee. He has been a teaching attending for the RUSH Copley Family Medicine Residency program since its inception.
Milani has been with RUSH Copley Medical Center for over 13 years. His interactive, good-nature and friendly personality keep patients devoted to his practice. From pediatrics to general medicine and health maintenance, he has the tools and expertise to care for the entire family.
In 2001, 2009 and 2014, Milani received the “Teacher of the Year” award and was the recipient of the “2011 Medical Staff Quality/Safety Award."
