Visitor Information

Pink Line El train on Rush campus

Construction information

The city of Chicago is replacing the water main lines on Harrison Street between Ashland and Damen Avenues. During this work, Harrison Street will be reduced to two lanes of traffic — one going east and one going west. The construction begins in July and continues through early November.

We anticipate delays around our main campus throughout the roadwork and recommend you give yourself extra time when coming to Rush. Please be assured we are working diligently to minimize disruptions. This includes the use of flaggers and added signage to direct traffic, as well more staff to assist with valet parking.

Harrison Street garage

For the near future, students, faculty and visitors will be able to enter the main garage through the usual entrance on Harrison Street. If any changes in entrance- and exit-ways occur, signage will be prominently displayed and flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

We are asking all our students, faculty and visitors to minimize their use of Harrison Street, whether you are in a vehicle or on foot. Please plan to use the pedestrian bridges on the fourth floor to access our main parking garage and the Tower and Armour Academic Center.

Public transportation

Current construction plans will not impact CTA trains. The Harrison Street bus stop under the “L” train tracks will be relocated. The city of Chicago is still determining the location of that stop. Updates will be provided on the Rush website and on Rush social media. Passengers will receive handouts during their commute that explain changes affecting their route.

Getting updates

We will notify students and faculty of construction news on social media and here on this web page. You may also call (888) 352-RUSH to speak to a staff member. We are eager to hear your feedback and to help in any way we can.
