Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) will give faculty a centralized place to maintain information about teaching, scholarship, research, service, leadership, awards, mentoring, and other professional contributions.
FAR will also support reporting, accreditation needs, institutional planning, and other approved Faculty Affairs processes. Over time, maintaining information in one system is expected to make reporting more efficient and improve the consistency and accuracy of faculty data.
FAR will be used to collect and maintain information about faculty work across common academic activity areas. Faculty should review the sections available in FAR and update the areas that apply to their work as new activities occur throughout the year.
Routine updates will support timely reporting and help ensure that faculty accomplishments are accurately reflected.
FAR Pilot and Launch Timeline
Faculty Affairs plans to run pilots for Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) in October 2026 and January 2027 with small groups of faculty selected throughout the University. Feedback from the pilot will help validate the system setup and refine guidance and training materials before the anticipated Spring 2027 launch.
-
What is Faculty Activity Reporting?
Faculty Activity Reporting, or FAR, is the Interfolio module that will be used to collect, organize, and report information about faculty activities and accomplishments.
-
Why should I update FAR?
Updating FAR helps ensure your activity information is current and available for reporting, accreditation, and future annual review materials. It also helps reduce the need to provide the same information multiple times.
-
What should I check first?
Once faculty receive access and implementation instructions, you should confirm that you can sign into FAR and review any existing profile or activity information for accuracy. Then add or update records that are missing, incomplete, or outdated. Additional guidance and training materials will be shared before you are expected to complete these steps.
-
What types of activities should I enter?
Enter activities that reflect your academic and professional work. The sections available in FAR will guide where different types of information should be added.
-
How often should I update FAR?
Update FAR as new activities occur so your record remains current throughout the year and are ready for reporting, annual reviews, and promotion processes when needed.
-
Will information be imported automatically?
Some information may be imported or pre-populated from institutional data sources. Before launch, faculty will receive guidance identifying which information is imported and which information they are responsible for maintaining. Faculty should review available information for accuracy and add missing details as needed.
Questions and feedback may be directed to Faculty_Affairs_FMS@rush.edu.
Training materials, office hours, and quick reference guides will be added to this site as they become available.
